  • Elon Musk discusses possibility of electric airplanes at Hyperloop Award ceremony!

The Tesla Motors and SpaceX CEO admitted he’s been thinking about electric jets a lot and may be close to something.

Currently the idea of electronic airplanes does not exist. The entire face of the technology could change if Elon Musk decides to pursue it. Musk could put money and energy behind the particular concept.

Musk admitted he has been considering the idea for some years now at a recent award ceremony. Musk made the announcements at the Hyperloop Award Ceremony.

He also took part in a surprise question-and-answer session at the Hyperloop Pod competition, according to Autoblog. The Tesla Motors and SpaceX CEO was asked what his next great idea was. The award ceremony took place in Texas on Sunday.

According to Musk, he has been thinking about the vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) electric jets. Musk has been thinking about it a bit more and he might have something close.

Tesla CEO even admitted he is tempted to do something about the technology. The brief comment drew quite an enthusiastic response from the crowd. If Musk does follow the idea he might start with the simplest, most useful solution.

Elon Musk had previously stated to create a company it's important to limit the number of miracles. A company should start off with something that's the most doable, and then expand from there.

Other than electric airplanes, Musk is also contemplating tunnels as a possible mode of transportation. If Musk has his way he would turn the underground of cities into a massive 3-D maze.

The approach to tunnels is expensive and lengthy, so it might not get the same response. Let’s focus on the electric planes Musk!
