Super Bowl 50 Coin Flip Performs Joe Montana

The NFL announced that legendary NFL player Joe Montana is doing the Super Bowl 50 coin flip.

The Super Bowl 50 coin flip will be done by multiple Super Bowl MVP winner and overall football legend Joe Montana. He will be surrounded on the field in the Levi's Stadium by Super Bowl MVPs Marcus Allen, Fred Biletnikoff, Jim Plunkett, Jerry Rice and Steve Young announced the NFL. All of them played in Bay Area teams 49ers or Raiders.

Why is Joe Montana the one flipping the Super Bowl 50 coin? Because he is the only one that won multiple Super Bowl MVPs among the group of former NFL players.

59-year-old Joe Montana won the Super Bowl four times and was named MVP three times. He started his career in 1979 at the San Francisco 49ers and stayed with the team until 1992. At the end of his career he played for the Kansas City Chiefs for two seasons.

The Super Bowl 50 coin toss takes place three minutes before the start of the Big Game. The referee meets with Montana and the captains from Broncos and Panthers for a coin toss. The visiting team usually calls the toss. As the Broncos are the designated Home Team at the Super Bowl 50, the Panthers will call the toss.

The winner of the toss may defer their choice to the start of the second half, or they may take first choice of receiving the kickoff to start the game, or kicking off to start the game or choosing an end of the field to defend in the first quarter (with the teams switching directions at the end of the first quarter and at the end of the third quarter. The coin toss loser of the toss gets the remaining option.

Super Bowl 50 will take place on February 7, 2016, in Santa Clara, at the Levi's Stadium. The stadium is the home of the home of the San Francisco 49ers. Super Bowl 50 will be topping all previous Super Bowl's because of the anniversary. Marketers are flocking to Super Bowl 50 and it will be a huge TV event.
