  • Auctioned 1957 Ferrari is Not the most expensive car ever!

The Ferrari sold by Artcurial Motors was auctioned off for 32.075 million Euros or $35.7 million.

A 1957 Ferrari may or may not have become the most expensive car ever sold at auction. Or the Ferrari could be the second most expensive car ever. Artcurial Motorcars sold the 1957 Ferrari for a whopping 32.075 million euros.

The car was auctioned off on Friday and raced in Le Mans and other famous races in its prime. According to Artcurial Motors it marked a world record for a car at auction, if measured in euros.

The amount the 1957 Ferrari was sold for is equal to $35.7 million. However the world records may be in jeopardy. Factors such as auction locations and currency exchange rates are causing conflict. So the title for the most expensive car ever auctioned is now in dispute.

Back in 2014 the Bonham sold a 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO Berlinetta at the Pebble Beach auctions. The auctions in California saw the Ferrari selling for $38.1 million including fees.

At the time the amount translated in to 28.5 million euros. So according to Bonham’s it was the most expensive car ever auctioned at the time.

Since 2014 the dollar has strengthened in value against the euro. The Euro is now worth less in dollar terms than it was in 2014. So the title for the most expensive car ever is in dispute depending on currency values.

So technically there are two most expensive auctioned cars depending on separate currencies. In Euro terms, the Artcurial Ferrari is the new number one, while in dollar terms the Bonham's Ferrari holds the title. One thing is for sure the two number one cars in the world are both Ferraris
