Ryan Reynolds lands a world-wide sensation box office hit with Deadpool.

Deadpool earned $260 million world-wide in the weekend box office. In the US, Deadpool earned $135 million at the domestic box office over the Presidents' Day weekend. This is a record breaking opening for an R-rated movie and more. Deadpool is the biggest opening for a President's Day weekend, raking almost double of Fifty Shades of Grey, which held the record so far.

Now Rentrak reports that Deadpool almost doubled the domestic Box Office in international ticket sales ending up with $260 million. The movie did not only open in 62 territories so far.

20th Centory Fox and Ryan Reynolds hit the jackpot with Deadpool. Fox only invested $58 million into making Deadpool. The got 5x return already in the first weekend. For Ryan Reynolds, the Deadpool success means being back in the top ranks of Hollywood.

Deadpool is an R-rated movie and this is what makes it work.The story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life, he does it with a foul mouth.

Ryan Reynolds was everywhere leading up to the Deadpool release. His short videos have been hilarious and turned out to be great marketing. Deadpool 2 is already in the making.
