The superstar Rihanna was notably absent from the Grammys due to a throat problem. She has been advised by her physician to rest for awhile and let her vocal cords relax and recuperate.

The drop dead gorgeous Rihanna suffered from a throat infection at the last moment before she was supposed to sing at the Grammys.

Her physician has recommended that she remain silent for the next two days or so. The singer may suffer a hemorrhaging of her larynx if she does not pay heed to the doctor’a advice.

Another appointment which ended in disappointment was when Lauryn Hill didn’t show up for a duet with The Weeknd. This was so despite a dress rehearsal which she partook in a day before with the R&B star.

As for Rihanna, she is 27 years old and at the peak of her career. A recipient of eight Grammy awards, Rihanna was supposed to sing “Kiss it Better” from her album “Anti”.

Things were not to be though and so she is currrently resting and relaxing at her mansion. When Rihanna mentioned the fact that she wouldn’t be able to come to the Grammys, many of her fans said that it just wouldn’t be the same without her.

Rihanna had been taking antibiotics for her throat infection since the past three days. After seeing no respite from the infection which had made her forgo coming to the Grammys, Rihanna decided to take a break from work.

It wouldn’t have been safe for her to have performed at the Grammys. As for Lauryn Hill, her representatives complained that her not attending the Grammys ought not have been advertised and publicized in such an open manner. Apparently, she had commitments elsewhere so she couldn’t make it to the show, according to Reuters.

The problem of strained vocal cords is not uncommon among performing artists and musicians. Some of them just sing and scream their way to a ruined throat. We have seen this issue arise in case of such highly talented people as John Mayer and even Adele.

The thing is that if you are a wise singer and your doctor tells you to stop singing for awhile, you had better listen to what he says. Otherwise you are in it for the long haul since you may lose your voice on a permanent basis.
