Sony Mobile World Congress 2016 Media Event Live Stream Begins 2:30am ET

The Mobile World Congress 2016 officially begins today. First highlight this morning in Barcelona is the Sony MWC 2016 media event.

Samsung, LG, Huawei and Nokia already held MWC 2016 media events on Sunday. Sony is hosting its Mobile World Congress 2016 media event at 8:30am CET, 2:30am ET today, the first official day of the Mobile World Congress 2016.

Update: New Xperia Ear, Eye, Projector and Agent unveiled. Sony also revealed the new Sony Xperia X smartphones.

Sony is expected to unveil a new Xperia smartphone and the Smart Ear, a wireless Bluetooth earbud. The new Xperia smartphone leaked as Xperia PP10, which is believed not the be the final moniker for the new Sony Xperia smartphone. Sony teased today's MWC event with a video, that did though not reveal anything.

The Mobile World Congress 2016 will kick off officially on Monday, Feb. 22 in Barcelona. Samsung, LG, Sony, Nokia and others hosted MWC 2016 media events to reveal new devices including the Samsung Galaxy S7, LG G5 and Huawei Matebook.

The GSMA represents the interests of mobile operators worldwide, uniting nearly 800 operators with more than 250 companies in the broader mobile ecosystem, including handset and device makers, software companies, equipment providers and internet companies, as well as organizations in adjacent industry sectors.
