The Kardashians are always pretty willing to go out and use their private lives as a way to get headlines, magazine covers, and storylines on their show. That's why it was so weird when Khloe Kardashian didn't publicly speak out about her split from NBA star James Harden.

It turns out she was saving it for ratings for her own television show. On the March 2, 2016, episode of Kocktails with Khloe, she goes deeper. All it took was some prying from guest Lisa Rinna, who asked why things didn't work for the couple, who had only been dating since July.

"I just don't want to put up with people that, you want to be monogamous, but then you're not monogamous," Kardashian explains.

The Strong Looks Better Naked author said that she told the Rockets player that they could hang out without actually committing to each other, but Harden said that he wanted to be exclusive and not see other people.

"I've always said, 'We don't need to be monogamous,'" Kardashian explains. "'There's a lot of s--t going on in both of our lives. You live in Houston, I live in L.A. Let's just see each other when we see each other.' Why wouldn't you say, 'OK, that's great'?"

She added that she wanted to commit to him but also "wanted to be realistic" instead of "forcing a relationship" and creating drama. Though, as US Weekly pointed out, there was a lot of drama already when her estranged husband Lamar Odom overdosed and was hospitalized with Khloe by his side.

"He sought me out, wanted to be committed, then wasn't committed," she continues. "[I] found out he wasn't, and I got the receipts to prove it."

Kocktails With Khloe airs on FYI on Wednesdays at 10 p.m. EST.
