The new launch time for the SpaceX SES-9 mission is Sunday 6.46pm ET.

Update: SpaceX SES9 Launch rescheduled again.

SpaceX halted the launch countdown for the SES-9 mission on Thursday. This was already the second time Elon Musk's team had to cancel the Falcon 9 mission. The company did not reveal any reason for the countdown stop. An update just said that they review data. Now SES announced the new launch schedule for the SpaceX SES 9 mission. It's tonight, just before the Oscars 2016 red carpet coverage starts.

SpaceX is targeting Sunday Feb. 28, at 6:46pm ET for the launch of the SES-9 mission at the Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Florida. A backup date has been set for Monday Feb. 29, 6:46pm ET. Has a rocket ever launched on a Leap Day?

SES 9 is the largest satellite dedicated to serving the Asia-Pacific region for SES. With its payload of 81 high powered Ku band transponder equivalents, SES 9 will be the 7th SES satellite providing coverage to over 20 countries in the region.

As with past missions, delivering of the pay load into space is not exciting enough for Elon Musk's space venture. The Falcon 9 will attempt an experimental landing again on the “Of Course I Still Love You” drone ship. SpaceX is not expecting a successful landing given this mission’s unique Geostationary Transfer Orbit profile.

SpaceX will provide a live video stream of the new SpaceX Falcon 9 mission on the SpaceX webcast page.
