The 88th Academy Awards are history and the winners of the Oscars 2016 have been revealed. Where there are winners there are losers.

Leonardo DiCaprio has finally won an Oscar. In his 5th nomination the 41-year-old actor won the Oscar for Best Actor in his role in the bear fighting movie The Revenant. DiCaprio used the spotlight of getting an Oscar to raise awareness to Climate Change.

He also took to Twitter to call for action: "#ClimateChange action starts w/ electing leaders who'll make brave & vital changes needed to save our planet." He ask people to support the League of Conservation Voters.

While Leonardo DiCaprio won an Oscar, The Revenant did not win the coveted Oscar 2016 for Best Picture. That Academy Award went to the powerful movie Spotlight.

Brie Larson won the Oscar for Best Actress in a leading role for Room. Mark Rylance stole the Oscar for Actor In a Supporting Role from Sylvester Stallone. Rylance won for his performance in Bridge of Spies.

Alicia Vikander took home the Academy Award for actress in a supporting role for The Danish Girl.

Alejandro González Iñárritu won an Oscar for Best Director for The Revenant. The movie was nominated for 12 Oscars and took home at the end of the evening just three, with Best Actor, Best Director and Best Cinematography.

Inside Out won the Oscar 2016 for best animated feature film. Sam Smith won an Oscar for his James Bond Spectre song.

Mad Max: Fury Road won the most Oscars 2016 with six, losing out though on the most prestigious Oscars.
