Kesha tweeted her thanks for bringing attention to the issue and saying it is very close to her heart.

The 2016 Oscars were filled with messages and one of them was very special to singer Kesha. Kesha has been involved in a legal battle against Dr. Luke for sexual assault.

The battle has recently garnered a lot of attention in Hollywood. At the Oscars Lady Gaga and Vice President Joe Biden highlighted the issue of sexual assault. Kesha gave out a special thanks to both Gaga and Biden through Twitter.

Kesha thanked Lady Gaga and Joe Biden for bringing awareness to sexual assault tonight at the Academy Awards. Kesha also tweeted the issue is very close to her heart due to obvious reasons.

"thank u @ladygaga and VP @JoeBiden for bringing attention to sexual assault at the oscars. it hit very close to my heart for obvious reasons," Kesha tweeted.

Vice President Joen Biden introduced Gaga to perform ‘Til It Happens To You’ on stage. The song nominated for an Oscar was co-written by Lady Gaga and Diane Warren. The song was featured in the film ‘The Hunting Ground’.

The documentary is about sexual assaults occurring on college campuses. While calling Gaga on stage Biden encouraged everyone to sign the pledge. According to Biden the pledge is for intervening when consent has not been given.

Lady Gaga herself has admitted she is a sexual assault survivor. During the performance Gaga had other rape survivors on stage with her. All of them had messages like ‘unbreakable’ and ‘it happened to me’ written on their arms.

Even before the Oscars Gaga gave out support to Kesha through Twitter. Gaga tweeted her support to Kesha saying she will be thinking of Kesha tonight at the Oscars. Gaga even said it is not over and they will stand by Kesha until she is free to live a happy life.
