NASA’s astronaut Scott Kelly’s year in space is coming to an end. He however has the energy and bounce to spend another year aboard the ISS.

Scott Kelly is ready to come back to earth after a year long mission in the barren conditions of outer space. His was the longest stay that any astronaut has had to patiently bear in a situation of zero gravity.

Scott left a message on his Twitter account with a pic of the beautiful blue atmosphere of earth shining in resplendence from the vantage point of the ISS.

While the year long stay aboard the ISS would probably have affected the eyesight and bone density of any human being, Kelly made the remark that he felt pretty good. In fact, he was fighting fit.

Kelly mentioned that he could go for another hundred days. He even went so far as yo say that he was willing to spend a hundred years aboard the ISS provided he lived that long.

Of course, he was joking but it just goes to show you the determination and will power of this iron astronaut. He admitted that the only drawback of being in space was the extreme isolation. You missed the people who were back home on earth.

Kelly kept in touch with some of the happenings on planet earth. He spotted the northern lights, the ISS passed over the pristine and paradisaical islands of the Bahamas and he also took a gander at Hurricane Patricia.

Scott Kelly even became an environmentalist of sorts while out there in space. He noticed that some parts of the earth were covered with a thick grey haze.

Others were blue and clear signifying a clean and green environment. The problematic areas were that way due to man-made changes. Kelly said that the earth looked very fragile from the vantage point of the ISS.

When he returns home, Kelly will have to undergo several physical and psychological tests. It will be good to be back and he will probably go skinny dipping in his swimming pool.

Kelly isn’t going to bring back any solid object from space expect for his experiences and the knowledge and wisdom he has gained on board the ISS.

He feels like he has spent his entire life in space and said that despite his undying optimism, this would probably be his last trip in space. He will be missing the days he spent with the crew of the ISS though. They had built a sense of camaraderie and were like true brothers in arms.
