Google has finally listened to the people and added a detour option for Google Maps! For people who use the feature a lot, the detour option will be great for finding places to eat, adding pit stops, or even just organizing a trip. Both the iOS and Android versions of Google Maps will get the feature, which is said to be rolling out today.

Pit stops are important when we are driving, in order to change a tire, get gas, use the restroom, find food, or even just change drivers. However, it used to be that when you wanted to do this, you would have to constantly listen to the Google Map app yell at your or tell you that you are being rerouted.

The greatest part is that you can now search for things like diners, gas stations, or whatever it is you need and then add it to the trip that you are currently on. There isn't a limit to the number of detours you can add, and you can put them in your own order, unlike some other apps who try to tell you what to do.

Google Maps even shows you reviews of those places, so that you don't add something to your route and then get there and be disappointed. You can also delete your detour if you decide that you don't need to take it.

Just like always, the Google Maps navigation system will have real time traffic information and a estimated time of arrival for each trip.
