The 5th attempt to launch the SES-9 satellite into orbit is planned on Friday, March 4.

SpaceX announced the next launch date for the troubled SpaceX SES-9 mission. The fifth attempt of the SES-9 launch is scheduled for Friday, March 4, 6:35pm ET. SpaceX SES-9 launch on Super Tuesday has been scrubbed, because of bad weather. On Sunday the countdown was stopped in the last seconds, due to heat issues with the liquid-oxygen.

The new SpaceX rocket launch on Friday is at the Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Florida. SpaceX will provide a live video stream of the new SpaceX Falcon 9 mission on the SpaceX webcast page.

SES-9 is the largest satellite dedicated to serving the Asia-Pacific region for SES. With its payload of 81 high powered Ku band transponder equivalents, SES 9 will be the 7th SES satellite providing coverage to over 20 countries in the region.

As with past missions, delivering of the pay load into space is not exciting enough for Elon Musk's space venture. The Falcon 9 will attempt an experimental landing again on the “Of Course I Still Love You” drone ship. SpaceX is not expecting a successful landing given this mission’s unique Geostationary Transfer Orbit profile.

The landing of the Falcon 9 is going to be again the most exciting part to watch. Last time (January) the video feed cut off just before the Falcon 9 landed on the drone ship. Fans had to wait a while to learn what happened. The Falcon 9 landed, but a landing gear broke and it fell over. Read more Science news.
