The NASA astronaut Scott Kelly returned to earth after a year long mission aboard the ISS in outer space.

The man is getting a chance to eat fresh wholesome food that doesn’t come out of a tube or packaged container. Scott Kelly has returned to earth after a trip that lasted 365 days aboard the ISS.

He posted an Instagram photo of his first leafy green salad on his home planet. Scott Kelly wrote: “My first salad on earth. I missed fresh vegetables. Fruit was the food I missed the most while in space.”

He also spoke of how growing and harvesting fresh food such as lettuce aboard the ISS would come in handy in the much longer mission to Mars that is in the future.

Kelly is a mature 52 years old. He is back on earth but hasn’t entered US territory just yet. He will be heading out for NASA headquarters in Houston, Texas soon though.

There will be a large welcoming party for Scott Kelly. He has achieved what no other person has been able to do so far. A year in space is no joke. It is a feat and one for which he deserves all the praise and admiration in the world.

Among his well-wishers who will be present at his arrival are Dr. Jill Biden and his twin brother Mark. Scott is also looking forward to a long shower where he will get a chance to scrub his body with soap.

While on board the ISS, bathing was not a possibility. Kelly alongside Mikhail Kornienko and Sergey Volkov landed in Kazakhstan yesterday. After a year in space, Kelly is exactly two inches taller than he previously was.

Thus he now towers above his twin brother Mark Kelly who was is also an astronaut. The stay in space leads to a natural increase in height.

The main goal of Kelly’s mission was to gauge how the body, mind and soul of a human being responded to such a lengthy time in outer space. Kelly said that after such a long time it was a miracle that he still felt pretty good and none the worse for wear.

He hopes that a year long project to monitor his health status will now ensue and things will turn out just hunky dory. His twin brother Mark stayed on earth while Scott was aboard the ISS.

A comparison will be made between both to see what differences exist between those with similar genes in space and on earth.
