The new Samsung Galaxy S7 went on sale on Friday around the world. The lines are reminiscent of Apple iPhone launches.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 launched on Friday amidst long lines at stores around the world. The Galaxy S7 and S7 edge, officially went on sale last Friday around the globe, including in the United States, Europe, Singapore, Australia and Korea. People started to line up in the middle of the night to be one of the first to get their hands on a Galaxy S7.

This is almost as mad as when Apple launches a new iPhone. Samsung's customers are not yet camping out for days in front of stores, but the lines are impressive.

Samsung has published a round-up of Galaxy S7 launches around the world showing photos of lines and the first Galaxy S7 customers. In Paris more than 100 people line-up at 7am at a Samsung store and in Rotterdam 200 people waited outside a store.

Over the weekend, more than 60,000 people visited a Samsung popup store at the Westfield Shopping Centre in London, trying out the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge.

Samsung and its carrier partners are doing everything to make the Galaxy S7 sell. Samsung throws in a free Gear VR goggle and VR game bundle and the carriers offers a free additional Galaxy S7 if you buy one.

Samsung has not released any Galaxy S7 sales data for the first weekend. A report on Korean News Agency Yonhap says that Samsung sold 100,000 Galaxy S7 smartphones in South Korea on the first weekend. This would be good news for Samsung. The company sold only 200,000 Galaxy S6 in the first 12 days of sales in South Korea.

Samsung already has reached 50% of the first 12 days of Samsung Galaxy S6 sales within 48 hours.

Rapper Lil Wayne had his own idea of celebrating his Glalaxy S7 by pouring champagne over it at Samsung Galaxy Life Fest at SXSW 2016 on Saturday in Austin. He knows how to test the new IP68 water proof property of the new Samsung phone the best way.
