  • Robots could be Sales Managers in the Future

It is surmised that robots could be sales managers in superstores in the future. They will lure in customers via their language skills.

While people may feel intimidated by a person trying to convince them to buy a product, they don’t have the same hangups in case involving a robot.

That is why it is being said that these AI agents may play a role in supermarkets in the future as sales associates and managers that will interact with ordinary shoppers. The creativity of technology simply seems to know no bounds.

The day robots replace sales associates, the world will have taken a step closer to greater automation and technological progress. According to Japanese researchers, most men on the eastern island nation do not like making small talk with sales associates.

They fear that they will be coerced into making a petty purchase. However, and here is the catch, they do not mind speaking to a machine. The machine seems sort of a neutral thing, so they open up to it.

This might seem paradoxical, but it is true. In fact, the robot could sell tons of clothes to unsuspecting people who are just out for a leisurely jaunt in the supermarket.

The researchers responsible for this study, say that they have been noticing the response of the public to robots. According to AdWeek (via Time), these robots have some very appropriate functions that they could fulfill in the real world out there.

The reactions of people so far are positive though whether this behavior lasts well into the long term future is a moot point. Talking robots are the wave of the future.

They never get fatigued and neither do they have to attend to the calls of nature that real life forms are accustomed to.

The robots could especially come in handy for Millennials and those from the Generation Y crowd. The new breed that grew up using the Internet will in particular become accustomed to the robots in stores.

Via the use of polished language skills, the robots could sell anything from clothes to shoes to jewelry. They will be there to assist not only parents but their kids as well.

The linguistic range of the robots will be very vast. They will be able to handle all sorts of responses with appropriate rejoinders.

Furthermore, since robots cannot tell a lie, they will be trusted by customers. While humans are devious, robots are programmed according to bits and bytes and can only nod in assent or shake their heads in negation.
