Millennial Women Make 2016 the Best Year for Ford SUV Sales
  • Millennial women make 2016 the best year for Ford in terms of SUV sales!

February in 2016 was the best in Ford history with sales rising 18% compared to February 2015.

The Ford SUV sales have so far been the best in their history in 2016. Ford sold a record 115,228 SUVs in the first two months of 2016. It makes 2016 the best calendar years start for Ford in their SUV sale history.

According to Ford the sales are due to more millennial women buying Ford SUVs. Ford claims the analysis was drawn from their personal new vehicle registrations in the United States.

“It’s an example of need-based growth,” said Erich Merkle, Ford U.S. sales analyst. “Millennials have begun forming families and those families are growing – in terms of the number of children as well as the size of those children. Explorer provides the space those families need today and tomorrow, while maintaining the image they want to project.”

The sales of the Ford Explorer SUV have especially risen in 2016 so far. Furthermore Ford had the best February sales in their history. In February 2016 Ford saw a rise in sales of SUVs by 18 percent when compared to sales in February 2015.

More millennial women are buying the Ford Explorer than ever before. Especially women between the ages of 25 to 34 years are buying more Ford SUVs.

Even though the Ford Escape SUV had record sale numbers in 2015, in 2016 it saw a 14 percent rise. On the other hand the sales of the Ford Edge SUV increased by a spectacular 56% in 2016.

It makes the Ford SUVs the most popular with millennial buyers. The number also means Ford has maintained its status as the best-selling midsize SUV in America.

According to a Ford US sales analyst, the numbers are an example of need-based growth. Millennials have started having families and their first choice for a family car is Ford. Overall Ford has had a 7% increase in its sales to date.
