Lionel Messi Becomes Huawei Brand Ambassador

Chinese Huawei signs one of the most famous soccer players to help market the brand.

Huawei signed Lionel Messi as Global Brand Ambassador. Messi is a high-profile win for Huawei. He has a huge global fan base.

“Lionel Messi will help our brand to encourage people to focus, persevere and breakthrough; to connect with greatness, especially in Europe, Asia, and Latin America, where Huawei puts great devotions. We both honor the path we walked to what we have achieved, and with each new challenge we renew our commitment to find the path to success”, said Kevin Ho, President, Handset Business, Huawei Consumer BG.

Huawei is one of the fastest growing smartphone makers battling Xiaomi in China for the number one spot. The company is now among the top 3 smartphone manufactures around the world. There is though still a lot of room to grow for Huawei outside of China.

“We are happy to announce our collaboration with an extraordinary individual who inspires people all over the world to pursue their dreams, to face challenges to become better with each day. A man who shares a lot of the same values with the Huawei brand and who is always looking for opportunities to reach greatness.” said Tyrone Liu, CEO Consumer Business Group for Huawei Latin America.

In the last few years, Huawei has invested in several teams including the América, Santa Fe, Sporting Cristal, Arsenal, Atlético de Madrid and the AC Milan and already has Robert Lewandowski and Alexis Sánchez as brand ambassadors.

Lionel Messi said: “You have to fight to reach your dream. You have to sacrifice and go all in, always looking forward to achieving greatness. The day you think there are no improvements to be made, you have to keep working for reaching other achievements.”

Huawei will introduce the new Huawei P9 on April 6, marking the next device coming from company. The P9 is rumored to be powered by the Kirin 950 SoC, Mali-T880 MP4 GPU and offer 32GB storage and 3,900mAh battery.
