Photos of Apple EarPods with Lightning Port plug are another nail in the coffin of 3.5mm jack on iPhone 7.

The iPhone 7 is rumored to drop the 3.5mm headphone jack. Now photos surface of Apple Headphones with a Lightning plug instead of the 3.5mm headphone plug.

It is hard to say if the photos are legit or just a product of the rumors. The photos of the Lightning EarPods appeared on Chinese social media (via 9to5Mac). It is not clear where the image first appeared. We have spotted several copies on

If Apple indeed drops the 3.5mm headphone jack then there needs to be another solution to connect headphones. One possibility are wireless EarPods that connect via Bluetooth. Apple is rumored to work on wireless Beats earbuds. Wireless earbuds are though still expensive and a wired solution is necessary in the short term.

Apple EarPods with a lightning port are a possibility. Say good-bye to charging and listening to music at same time, unless Apple is adding wireless charging in the iPhone 7.

The leaked EarPod are a distraction for what is happening today. The Apple Media Event on March 21 at the Apple headquarters in Cupertino begins at 10am PDT. There will be a live online stream available of the event. Apple is expected to unveil the 4-inch iPhone SE, a new small iPad Pro and new Apple Watch models. Read the latest iPhone SE News.
