  • Americans are Admitting that their Nation is the Top Causative Agent of Climate Change

Americans are finally admitting the fact that their nation is the top causative agent of climate change.

It’s been ten years since the Americans have shown a casual attitude towards climate change. Well, such is not the case anymore. For one thing, two-thirds of Yankees are now showing increased concern about the issue of global warming, according to a new survey by Gallup.

That is 65% of Americans, a sizeable portion of the population. They all agreed that human intervention causes climate change. This is an increase from the standard 55%.

There were many among the sample who showed great anxiety about the climate crisis. They were truly worried about it and thought that it was a cause for serious concern.

Apprehension regarding global warming began at the turn of the millennium. It became greater around 2006 when Al Gore’s “An Inconvenient Truth” came out.

Even the Republicans are starting to get worried by now. Climate change denial is at an all-time low. Representatives from 200 countries of the world gathered in Paris in 2015 to sign a pact to curb fossil fuel emissions. President Obama was one of them.

There were a few issues that dimmed the bright light of concern for climate change. They include: the economic crisis, the Climategate controversy and a campaign to discredit global warming as a real problem.

The period lasting 2009 to 2015 was a relatively barren one for global warming activism. Warm weather during the 2011-2012, 2012-2013 and 2015-2016 winters has however seen to it that the necessary shift occurred whether it was welcome or not.

About 7 days ago, the organization known as NOAA announced that February had been a month which had shattered all previous heat records. Some of the other signs of global warming are: rising sea levels, thawing of glaciers and melting of the permafrost.

Global warming poses a serious threat to the American way of life. The shift in public opinion about climate change was a long time in the making.

Over 41% of Americans feel that global warming will present tough problems during the course of their own lives. Many believe that global warming is due to a confluence of many factors. With the weather gone haywire, the consequences of climate change have become very clear.

The American public’s love affair with climate change denial seems to be coming to an end. As the rude awakening from the dream of ostrich-like head-in-the-sand complacency shows, reality may be bitter but facing it makes you stronger.
