iPhone SE Did Not Change a Thing on iPhone 5S Design

Apple got lazy? Was Jony Ive too busy designing the Apple Car? The iPhone SE is completely identical to the iPhone 5S.

Apple completely adopted the iPhone 5S design for the iPhone SE. It is a true retro gadget - like a BMW Mini is a retro car. Apple says: "iPhone SE takes an incredibly popular design and refines it even further. Crafted from bead-blasted aluminum for a satin-like finish."

The material got upgraded, but the shape is identical. What is funny to me is that the camera lens is flush on the iPhone SE, despite being the same as in the iPhone 6S. The iPhone 6S is just too thin. The iPhone 5S design looks still great, but innovation is something else. It becomes very clear on the really big bezel that is just not state of the art anymore.

Apple packed all the features besides 3D Touch inside the small iPhone SE body. The iPhone SE starts at $399, which is lower than expected. The $400 price tag will help sell the iPhone SE in India and China.

The iPhone SE offers state-of-the-art performance with the same 64-bit A9 chip offered in iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus for blazing fast speeds, longer battery life, faster wireless, a 12-megapixel iSight camera featuring Live Photos and 4K video, and Touch ID with Apple Pay. iPhone SE also includes more LTE bands for better worldwide roaming and supports Voice over LTE and Wi-Fi calling for high-quality wideband calls.
