A bunch of archaeologists in Italy have discovered a precious ancient stone slab with mysterious text written on it. It is an Etruscan find and may lead to information about the gods or goddesses of these people of the past.

It is a tedious work of textual complexity that is carved on top of a sandstone slab which dates back to the 6th century BC. As for the site of the slab, it is an ancient Etruscan temple.

A religious relic is a treasurehouse in archaeological terms. Most of the Etruscan artefacts are related to burial or gravesite objects. This sacred text will probably lend us vital clues about the early lost culture of these western denizens.

The slab has a weight of 500 pounds. It is four feet in height and two feet in width. Having at least 70 characters on its surface, it is termed a “stele” in the archaeological vernacular. It is most likely that this stele will yield valuable knowledge regarding the culture and folkways of the Etruscans.

The Etruscans ruled the roost in Rome once upon a time. They played an important role in designing its art, architecture, governmental policies and religious edicts.

The Etruscans were the most religious people of their times. Their society and culture was thoroughly infused with religious symbolism and rituals. The slab was found within the context of an ancient temple.

It had been buried in the ground for a total of 2500 years. It probably commanded a great deal of religious authority in its times. The architecture of these olden times consisted of timber-framed oval structures. There was a regal stone podium and huge stone column bases too.

These architectural relics have been found at the site. The effort is underway to find out more about the Etruscan language. Such a lengthy text will take some time to decipher.

The analysis of the stele will be possible via photogrammetry and laser surveys. It is hoped that an extensive study of the stone slab will lead to a knowledge of the gods and goddesses mentioned in the script inscribed on it.
