  • NASA Technicians get ready to Road-Test Orion Spacecraft

NASA technicians are going to get ready to road-test the Orion spacecraft.

Most of the astronauts that will be the pioneers to enter deep space aboard the Orion spacecraft will require space suits that fit them down to their pinky fingers. This is so that they could have a better control of the manual operations inside the spacecraft.

Such missions will take place many years in the distant future. Yet to be prepared is more than just the Boy Scout’s Motto. It is the very key of guidance to life and the process of living.

Astronauts at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston are currently busy testing the suits that they will be wearing on their trips into outer space. It is all about the suitability and fit of these oversized exterior coverings that come in many layers.

They keep the astronauts safe and secure and allow them to act with relative freedom in conditions of zero gravity. The mock trials the astronauts underwent included manipulating a rotational hand controller and a cursor control device inside a simulated Orion interior cabin environment.

After Orion has been supervised and had some changes made regarding its components, the sophisticated spacecraft will undergo many tests at multiple sites across the nation.

Once Orion has gotten the green light signal from the technicians and an “A Plus” on its progress report, it will be literally ready to rumble. It will circle the moon in the year 2018, according to ABCNews.

As for the first crew mission, it will take place in 2023. The second date may seem far-off yet as the saying goes, the future comes soon enough. If things go as per plan, a time may come when Orion will fly astronauts to the surface of an asteroid or even the Martian landscape.

Space is indeed the final frontier and the exploration of the universe is something that mankind is just waking up to at the present phase of its technological evolution.
