iPad Pro 9.7 Teardown Shows Low Repairability

The world had been very excited about the release of the 9.7 inch iPad Pro due to its power packed performance and smaller size. The device had become a success instantly when professional disassemblers at iFixit revealed the otherwise.

It turns out that the iPad Pro 9.7 is just the same device with all of its functional components very closely packed in order to make up for the smaller size. Therefore the new iPad Pro 9.7 has become very difficult to open and repair. Disassembling consumes up a lot of patience in addition the heating it gets subjected to at the very same time. However, the battery which is the biggest component in the device is better than the previous model since it has a 27.91 Whr or 7,306 mAh rating.

The iPad Pro 12.9 had 27.62 Whr. This means that the iPad Pro 9.7 cannot be repaired at home at all. iFixit has given it a rating of just 2 out of 10 which means that it is too hard to repair by even professionals. The front panel which is fused together remains the trickiest part to repair since it involves the risk to damage the LCD while opening it. Not to forget that the device components have been brought together by big glue chunks that make it even more difficult to repair.
