Tesla Motors founder Elon Musk revealed that the company received 325,000 orders for the Tesla Model 3.

Elon Musk gave another update on the Tesla Model 3 reservation numbers. The electric car company has received 325,000 Model 3 pre-orders in the first week. On April 2 the reservations counter stood on 253,000.

Elon Musk said in the tweet that only 5% ordered the maximum of two cars. He interprets that as low levels of speculation. If the 325,000 reservations are converting into Model 3 sales, than Tesla Motors looks at a sales volume of about $14 billion.

Now Tesla Motors has just to build these cars. There are still many details in flux. The dashboard and steering for instance we saw a week ago is not final. There will be controls on the steering wheel. Musk said that driving the Model 3 will feel like a spaceship.

Elon Musk latest Tweet is about one of his other companies. He is really like Marvel's Tony Stark. SolarCity panels produce now enough zero carbon energy on a single day to charge entire Tesla fleet. SolarCity has over 230,000 customers. A couple weeks ago, SolarCity customers had their biggest day of energy generation yet. They surpassed 8 million kilowatt-hours of electricity production in a single day. This is enough to fully charge all 107,000 Tesla cars in existence.

This brings us back to the Model 3. Tesla Motors has reservations three times as much as cars that they made so far. This is crunch time for Tesla Motors.
