German newspaper reports that Apple has a development lab in Berlin full with young car rebels from the German car industry.

Elon Musk said a while ago that the Apple Car is an open secret. Here is a real secret. Respected German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (F.A.Z.) reports that Apple is operating a secret car development lab in Berlin, the capitol of Germany. The F.A.Z. sources say that 15 to 20 man and women are part of the lab.

These people are supposed to be high flying car talents trained in the German car industry. They are supposedly mostly young experts in the fields of software, hardware and marketing. They share that they have progressive thinking - too progressive for the German car companies.

The sources of F.A.Z. (German) said also that the Apple Car is a small automobile to be released in 2019 or 2020. It is rolled out in a car sharing model. Drivers would be able to rent an Apple Car short-term and pay by the minute. Such car sharing models are already available from companies like BMW (Drive-Now).

The first Apple car has no self-driving features say the sources. These are planned in later generations. F.A.Z. is also warming up an old rumor that says that Apple is building the Apple car in Austria at Magna. These rumors already surfaced a year ago.

The Apple car is coming. The details are though completely in the dark. It is questionable how important the Apple car lab in Berlin is, considering the reports about office space and buildings Apple has rented out in the Silicon Valley for Project Titan.
