Botox injections may prove useful in curing migraines and other neurological conditions.

Botox is not just for skin cosmetology. It can be used to treat several neurological conditions. These neurological conditions contain four new subcategories that didn’t exist before.

Besides the management of headaches and migraines, botox could be employed to treat blepharospasm, cervical dystonia and adult spacticity. The first of these other three conditions involves anomalous and involuntary muscular contractions.

The eyelids often refuse to close on their own. This is the chief symptom of blepharospasm. There are over three types of botox injections which may be used to allay the symptoms of this disease.

“Chronic migraine is one of the most disabling forms of headache,” said Russell Katz, M.D., director of the Division of Neurology Products in the FDA’s Center for Drug Evaluation and Research.

“Patients with chronic migraine experience a headache more than 14 days of the month. This condition can greatly affect family, work, and social life, so it is important to have a variety of effective treatment options available.”

As for cervical dystonia, is is accompanied by uncontrollable muscular spasms in the neck and shoulders. The person who is affected by this ailment often assumes abnormal postures and has strange symptoms as seen by the movements in the upper body.

There are two injections of botox used to treat this malady. Botox Type A happens to be one of the injections used to treat this disease. As for adult spasticity, in it heightened and rigid muscle tone leads to a general resistance to movement.

Thus there are four types of botox injections for upper body spasticity while there are two for the lower body version. Although botox reduces some of the symptoms, it is patient-specific and often does not do much to allay the symptoms.

Each preparation of botox has huge differences from the other concoctions. Botox is basically a botulinum toxin which has applications in skin beauty treatments.

It decreases such signs as crows feet around the eyes and wrinkles all over the face. Skin takes on a youthful appearance temporarily thanks to botox injections being regularly given to the patient.

Botox is also used to treat chronic pain and muscular problems. It is a wonder serum that has multiple contexts in which it works.

The muscles are temporarily paralyzed thanks to this nerve agent and thus the skin becomes smooth and looses its wrinkles. As far as nerve endings are concerned, they are deactivated thanks to this pain reliever.
