Today proved once again that history has its eyes on Hamilton. The Tony's are largely considered by many to be one of the most prestigious awards one can win, making up 25% of the coveted EGOT, and the record breaking show racked up an astonishing 16 nominations - the most ever for a single show.

The nominations for the 70th outing of the Tony Awards were announced this morning by Andrew Rannells and Nikki M. James.

On the musical side, Hamilton leads the nominations, Shuffle Along has ten, and She Loves Me has eight. Long Day's Journey Into Night nabbed seven nominations, making it the most nominated play.

The awards ceremony is June 12, 2016, at 8p.m. and will be on CBS. James Corden will make his debut as the host, and the show will be broadcast from New York City's Beacon Theatre.
