Apple iPad built-in display and sketchpad cover patent announced

Patentlyapple announced that an iPad Smart Cover has been granted to Apple today which shall have a built-in display and a tablet with a Wacom drawing style.

This patent shows how the Smart Cover can be used in many different ways through the iPad’s own text only displays like reminders etc. There are also options that depict the display as a full input device having drawings and written notes incorporated at the same time.

While claims come out, two such elements have already been into production but the power that they contain shall be recognized as the iPad Pro’s Smart Connector feature. There is however a difference between the patent and the product which shows four connecting drawing points rather than three. But that is no problem, since the confusion shall sure be cleared when the device is launched.

This means that there will be more capabilities to the Smart Connector other than Keyboards after all while the simplest depiction has a cover with an extra icons column though the rest remains dedicated to the solar panels. A small part of the cover is used for the display as well as touch panel along with another writing pad embodiment.

The most complex version shows the Wacom style live drawing pad something like the already existing Apple Pencil while one thing remains certain that increasing display area would require additional functionality and that is already provided to most tablet devices.

Therefore choosing between display and portability, a less functional but more portable device would work better. But since this is not a desirable thing hence a ways to combine both shall be immensely required.
