Japanese camera maker enters action video camera market.

The Olympus Tough camera line features digital cameras that are made for the outdoors. These cameras are waterproof, shockproof and the Olympus TG-4 features a GPS tracker. A new leak from Japanese rumor site digicame-info.com suggests that Olympus will add an action video camera to the Olympus Tough camera line.

Update May 20: Olympus Though Stylus TG-Tracker leaks with more photos and specifications.

The leaked camera has the camera lens on the side. The design features some elements from the Olympus Tough TG-4. It is speculated that this new Olympus camera will come with mounts similar to GoPro. There are no technical specifications yet for this unnamed Olympus camera. It is hard to tell from the product image how big the camera is.

If it is as big as the TG-4 it would not be ideal as a wearable.

Olympus and the other established camera makers have missed the action camera trend. GoPro basically owns this segment coming out of nowhere 12 years ago. Now basically all camera brands offer an action cameras.
