A press-release surfaced of French reseller innelec that mentioned the Sony PS4 4K Neo.
Yesterday we reported about a rumor that the Sony PS4 Neo will debut at the Tokyo Game Show 2016 in September. Today a press-release out of France raises attention. A press-release of reseller innelec surfaced that contains the financial outlook of the company. In the press-release (pdf) the Sony PS4 4K Neo gets mentioned.
The news spread rather quickly forcing innelec to issue a statement. Innelec denies any official information about the launch of a PS4 4K Neo. The company says that they have no knowledge about a new Sony console. Then you should not mentioned it in a financial press-release.
The retraction is a necessary step for innelec, but the fact of the matter is that Sony is indeed launching a new better PS4 for Virtual Reality this fall.
The Sony PlayStation Neo would adopt the 14nm AMD Polaris GPU, which would be running on 911MHz instead of 800MHz the GPU in the PS4 is running.
The PlayStation Neo (internal codename) is scheduled to be released along with the PlayStation VR headset. An upgraded PS4 would challenge the Windows PC based Oculus and HTC Vive.
The Tokyo Game Show 2016 (TGS 2016) will kick of September 15, which is the ideal timing to unveil new products for the crucial Holiday shopping season.
