  • The Month of April which just passed by was the Hottest Ever

Apparently, the month of April which just happened to pass us by was the hottest ever. It broke all previous records and is a sign that global warming is for real.

Ever since the 80s, climate scientists have been at it trying to convince world governments and the public at large about this menace which is looming ahead.

By the time the 2000s appeared, it was clear that the issue could no longer be avoided. Recently, NASA had bad news for the people of the global village. April 2016 happened to be the warmest of months. So much so that it broke all previous records.

This is a case of déjà vu all over again. The past April was the seventh month that showed a heat wave trend. Overall global temperatures rose by several notches thereby increasing the discomfort of those in the so-called Great Outdoors.

In fact, the margin was the largest ever. The NOAA has yet to announce its readings for April. If the results match those of NASA, then we had better start taking this trend seriously. It will probably tally to a year’s time of more-than-usual hot weather.

There is a nearly 100% chance of 2016 turning out to be the hottest year ever. The record set by the heat wave this year will break the average mean temperatures of 2015 by a wide margin. This is worrisome and paints a dismal picture.

El Nino was responsible for the rise in temperatures this year, according to The Guardian. This weather freakery added to the already rising global temperatures. Especially, the level at which this sweltering and sultry buildup is taking place is alarming. Everything is turning upside down and inside out in the process.

There had been talk regarding this issue since the past generation or so. So it hardly comes as a shock. Yet the current ostrich-like head-in-the-sand policy will not do.

We must take the bull by the horns and do something about this mess we find ourselves in. The Paris Agreement had over 170 countries signing on it to ratify drastic steps that will be taken to reduce gas emissions from the burning of fossil fuels.

It seems more like a load of Pollyanna since the global system maintains its inertia. Even radical changes will not stem the tide of heat waves that will envelop the planet in their dangerous influence.

The sad thing is that while the danger is very real, most people are getting tired of the same old talk about global warming. Some of them even go so far as to deny there being any such thing in the first place.
