Tesla Motors is busy getting the Model 3 into production. Here is the latest news.

Tesla Motors outlined in their latest SEC filing the issues to overcome get the Tesla Model 3 into mass production. Tesla Motors targets an overall vehicle production level of 500,000 cars, including Model S, Model X and Model 3, in 2018. To achieve this goal, Tesla Motors made recently a strategic hire.

Tesla Motors has hired Audi Manager Peter Hochholdinger as its new VP of Vehicle Production. Mr. Hochholdinger has the experience to mass produce cars. He managed the production of 400,000 cars annually. He was involved in the production of Audi’s A4, A5 and Q5 vehicles, including 14 derivatives. of those models. Tesla announced the hire in a statement.

Tesla Motors is also making progress in the battery sourcing for the Model 3. A report out of Korea yesterday said that Tesla Motors plans to diversify the sourcing of battery cells. Tesla is in talks with LG Chem, Samsung SDI and SK Innovation to find additional partners to Panasonic.

The Korea Times also reports that Tesla is in talks with Hankook Tire to supply the Model 3 tires and LG Display is possibly supplying OLED displays for the Model 3 Dashboard.

The Tesla Model 3 design is not finalized yet and the first presentation did not include the dashboard at all. Elon Musk's electric car company plans to start production of the Model 3 in 2017 and ship the first Model 3 to customers in late 2017.

In cas the Model 3 is not your thing. Tesla Motors' Nordic Countries Manager Peter Bardenfleth-Hansen said at an event that the new Tesla Roadster will be released in 2019. The Roadster was the first Tesla. The 2019 Roadster is expected to be based the Model 3 drive drain, making it bigger than the original Roadster.
