Rumor has it that Honda will be celebrating its 70th Anniversary with a brand new model of S2000.

Honda is about to celebrate 70 years of excellence. The company has certainly produced a number of fantastic vehicles making it one of the top companies to produce cars. Rumor has it that Honda is planning to celebrate this huge occasion with a launch of a new sports car.

An S2000 was launched for the first time when Honda celebrated its 50 years in the year 1998. That car was a piece of art and its sporty style certainly went viral. However Honda hasn’t launched any S2000 models since the year 2008.

The year 2008 saw the latest model of S2000. After that it was discontinued. It is now being said that Honda might be fishing for some new ideas to launch a new model of this car on the big occasion.

Honda is expected to release a sports car and a sports bike at the 70th mark celebrations. The sports car is supposed to be a small car with lots of power, according to CarandDriver. Our sources have told us that it would be like that of the Mazda MX-5 Miata however it will be more speedy and powerful.

Honda’s S660 mini coupe is the example to look for in this case. It is a compact rear wheel drive car which has a great sporty look. Unfortunately it was not launched in the U.S but was available in European countries and UK only.

This S2000 version which is supposed to come soon will have a 2.0 liter engine. It will be a Civic type car and will weigh not more than 2900 pounds. It will be assembled and made in the US.
