Leaks of the iPhone 7 have already shown the presence of a Smart Connector, introduced first in the iPad Pro. Today a new leak shows an alleged iPhone 7 rear shell that has four speakers like the iPad Pro.

In addition to the two speakers on the bottom, this rear shell also has two speakers on top. To make space for the speakers, the flash has been moved under the camera lens, as it is the case on the iPad Pro.

Now we know why Apple moved the power switch in the iPhone 6S to the side - to make room for speakers. A quad speaker iPhone 7 would deliver powerful sound.

Steve Hemmerstoffer at NoWhereElse says that the image come out of Italy from a promotional photo shot of an Italian accessory maker. Like with the smart connector, the quad speaker iPhone 7 feature might be something Apple is playing around with. If Apple is indeed making it in a product remains to be seen.

In my mind though the story for an iPhone 7 Pro is coming together. The iPhone 7 Pro with quad speakers and smart connector could be marketed in the same way as the iPad Pro - an iPhone for professional or enthusiasts.

Earlier we carried a report featuring new leaks of the iPhone 7 dual and single camera modules and a 256GB SanDisk chip.

The iPhone 7 is rumored to still be in development. Apple's chip partners reportedly are still waiting for the component orders. Foxconn has though already begun hiring workers for the iPhone 7 production. The iPhone 7 will resemble the iPhone 6S and recent leaks suggest that only the antenna lines get pushed to the edges, cleaning up the rear design. The camera lens, initially rumored to be flush with the rear, is according to leaked CAD files again protruding.

Apple is expected to release the iPhone 7 in September.
