  • Strange Amazonian Fish with Human-like Teeth discovered in California

A strange sort of Amazonian fish with humanoid teeth has been discovered in California.

A weird fish from the Amazon was caught in the Petaluma Pond in San Francisco. What the experts don’t know is how this relative of the piranha fish got there in the first place.

While it looks ferocious by nature, the really flabbergasting thing is its teeth which look exactly like those of a human being. Termed the Pacu fish, it was caught by anglers in Lucchesi Park, reported The Press Democrat.

As this bizarre fish was reeled into the boat, it tried to bite into the fishing line. That was when its teeth were revealed for the first time. The person who caught it, plans to give it as a gift it to the State Department of Fish and Wildlife.

According to the person who caught this fish, it landed in the boat and by the very looks of it, one thing was sure and that was that they hadn’t seen anything like it before.

The body of water where the fish was found does not have a reputation as a piranha haunt. It is actually more of a place where ducks are often seen floating and waddling.

Pacu are normally dwellers of freshwater channels and their provenance is the Amazon River. They are linked with their cousins, the fierce and deadly piranhas that have razor sharp teeth.

While piranhas are sold in the US as exotic pets, they are illegal in the state of California. Last year a fisherman caught a Pacu fish in Rohnert Park. In the same year, another specimen was found in Swedes Lake in the state of New Jersey.

The Pacu is no less of a vicious carnivore than the piranha. According to some it has an uncanny habit of nibbling at the testicles of male swimmers in the waters of the Amazon.

This was amply shown in the TV show River Monsters which aired for awhile as a media sensation on Animal Planet. That was half a decade ago though.

The story went something like this. Two men were swimming in the Amazon and soon a pack of Pacu fish attacked from below. These men died after they had their testicles eaten in a savage manner by the pack of Pacu fish.

Later on this became the stuff of urban legend and the story circulated on the Internet. The blood loss from the bites of the Pacu Fish was so profuse that the men could not survive that attack. However, scientists point out the fact that Pacu normally eat only plants and tiny fish.
