  • Google’s Self-Driving Cars learn to Honk on their Own too

Google is planning to make the self-driving cars honk at the upcoming people and traffic on their own.

Google’s self-driving cars are being utilized in various streets in order to make them run properly. The cars will now learn to drive on their own without being rude.

Google’s report on self-driving car project revealed that the work is being done in order to teach the cars to honk on proper occasions. The learning lessons have been completed almost to the full extent and now the cars are ready to hit the roads.

Testing was performed in which the cars learnt about false positives. The cars were made to learn to distinguish between a car driving in wrong direction and a car making a three way turn on road.

The google cars are taught to emit two short and polite pips in case of casual driving. If any car comes close, then the car will politely honk. However on having greater chances of collision, the car will emit longer and louder honking.

Google released the fact that their self-driving cars will promote polite and considerate honking while being driven. It will make the drive safer and much easier for everyone.

According to the report submitted by Google, these cars are trained to honk like patient and seasoned drivers. This way they won’t disrupt the ambiance of neighborhoods nor would they cause noise pollution.

"Our self-driving cars aim to be polite, considerate, and only honk when it makes driving safer for everyone," Google wrote in the report that is first noted by BusinessInsider.

The engineers of google self-driving cars have also quipped them with a low “hum” sound. This sound lets the by passers know that a self-driving car is going past them. It is a great way to help the visually impaired people to judge about the approaching car.

Google is currently testing these new features on a fleet pf 24 Lexus RX45oh which are all SUVS. Along with that they are also testing the facilities on 34 pod-shaped iconic prototype vehicles of google.
