Apple Announces No Hardware at WWDC 2016
WWDC 2016

Apple is likely not unveiling any new hardware at the WWDC 2016 next week.

The Apple developer conference will be all about software indicate recent media reports. The WWDC 2016 keynote on June 13 is all about the new versions of iOS, tvOS, MacOS and watchOS. Siri's new features will be another highlight.

According to 9to5Mac, Mark Gurman said in a podcast that there will be no new Macs or other hardware. A recent rumor about a 5K Retina Display with GPU making a debut at the WWDC got shot down by iMore's Rene Ritchie.

Apple might be concerned that there are just too many new features in the operating systems that new hardware would grab the attention away. On the other hand the Microsoft E3 2016 keynote is at the same time as the WWDC 2016 keynote. Microsoft is maybe unveiling a new Xbox, which would steal a lot of attention away from tech media for the day.

Several of Apple's product lines are due for an update including the MacBook Pro and the iMac. When Apple is going to unveil new Macs is unclear. It would be tough on Apple fans to have to wait until Fall.

Siri is believed to be the biggest highlight of the WWDC 2016. The voice assistant will get new features and will roll out to OS X.

The WWDC 2016 keynote will be streamed live online at 10am PDT on June 13. Apple will also stream live sessions and have streaming sessions daily and posting videos of all sessions throughout the week of the conference.
