The next Samsung smartwatch has the codename Solis.

Samsung is working on the next Tizen smartwatch that will compete with the Apple Watch 2 this Fall. The follow up to the Gear S2 has reportedly the codename Solis.

SamMobile reports that the Samsung Solis smartwatch line will include the models SM-R760, SM-R765, SM-R770, SM-R765V, and SM-R765S. The Samsung Gear S3 will again run on Tizen.

The name Solis means sun in Spanish. This could be a hit towards solar cells, like found in Casio watches, but it is unlikely. There are no details yet on what Samsung will be improving in the Gear S3.

The screen could get bigger and maybe Samsung introduces a square model. Not everyone likes a round watch or smartwatch for that matter. I am a strict fan of square watches.

The Samsung Solis is likely improving the typical things like battery life and speed. Samsung is also trying to make devices as as thin as possible like Apple. The Solis therefore might be thinner than the Gear S2 aka Samsung Orbis.
