NASA Wants Mars Explorers
  • NASA wants Recruits for the Red Planet

NASA has taken to spreading posters that show that it wants recruits to work and live on the Red Planet.

Mars is also known as the Red Planet. NASA plans to send a manned mission within the near future to this planet. While there are no signs of life on Mars just yet, when the first human beings start living and working on its surface, such will not be the case. It will be a scenario of space being colonized by man. NASA has started publishing a series of recruitment posters that are enticing men and women to leave the earth and go to Mars in order to eke out an existence.

The style of the posters issued by NASA goes back to the famous WWI template. NASA is seriously on the lookout for recruits. The future space missions to Mars will not be unmanned. They will carry human beings to the surface of the Red Planet just like astronauts have visited the moon in the past.

As for the posters, they present a scenario of populating the surface of Mars with human beings. The first time these posters came on the scene was seven years ago. They were meant for the visitors flocking to the Kennedy Space Center.

The posters featured job openings on Mars. Among the professions listed were farming, teaching, technical work and surveying for colonization purposes. One of the salient points listed in the posters was the visit to Valles Marineris on Mars by these professionals.

This, by the way, is the biggest canyon in the entire solar system. Other highlights were the planting of fruit and vegetables in summer gardens on Mars and unearthing various minerals from its moon which is named Phobos. Yet it is some time before all this can be possible on a practical level. Professionals and amateurs will have to wait another 15 years.

NASA has on several occasions in the past made use of technicolor adverts to get the common folk enthused about living on other planets and the exploration of outer space.

The posters were called “Visions of the Future” and they were created in the first place by NASA’s in-house artists. The search for exoplanets and the field of space tourism are what they are all about. The Mars poster ads can be downloaded from the official NASA website on the Internet.
