The credit card information of up to 34,000 customers was stolen.

If you have purchased an Acer device within the last year or so, there is a chance that your credit card information was hijacked. The Taiwanese company sent word to the California Attorney General that the attackers were able to get "name, address, card number, expiration date, and three-digit security codes" of any users who purchased a computer between May 12, 2015 and April 28, 2016. It has sent out numbers to the customers who have been affected by the breach, some 34,500 people in the US, Canada, and Puerto Rico.

"Based on our records, we have determined that your information may have been affected, potentially including your name, address, card number ending in [insert], expiration date and three-digit security codes. We do not collect Social Security numbers, and we have not identified evidence indicating that password or login credentials were affected," the letter reads.

"We value the trust you place in us. We regret this incident occurred, and we will be working hard to enhance our security," Acer said.

While the theft isn't large and there were no social security numbers taken, it is a big hit. It is one of the few times we've seen a major PC company's online store face off against hackers. Acer hasn't announced how the breach happened, but more often than not it comes from employees opening infected emails, nothing too sinister or fancy.

The breach is still ongoing and Acer recently had an event to reveal the latest laptops and desktops computers, so they have obviously contained the problem. Still, if you purchased anything from Acer within the last year, you might want to just pay attention to your credit score and cards for a little while.
