When you launch Google today you are greeted by a fun and cute Google Doodle.

Today is the first day of summer. Doodler Nate Swinehart created a family of anthropomorphized rocks to commemorate the change of season. This year, the summer equinox has a companion: the strawberry moon. The pairing hasn’t happened since “The Summer of Love” in 1967, and won’t happen again until 2062.

Swineheart created a fun little story of a squirrel that spots a strawberry. When it is about to eat the yummy strawberry a stone awakes. In the background on the animated cartoon we see the strawberry moon. Native Americans gave the strawberry moon its name. It was in honor of the strawberry harvest season which began when the June full moon was at its peak. It is not the color that gave this moon its name.

Google wishes everyone a happy Summer.
