Initium Labs developed a small room security gadgets that works in connection with a smartphone.

Ever thought to install a security system in your dorm room or hotel room? Securmate makes this possible in a simple way. Securmate is designed around the needs of someone who wants to have the ability to easily carry, install and then reinstall their security system.

The small sensor module is powered by regular AAA batteries, which last over a year. The sensor can be mounted on doors or windows with double sided tape. The Securemate controller unit establishes a Wi-Fi network between one or more sensors and is the bridge to the internet.

If a secured door or window is breached the device alerts users via SMS or email. The simple security system can be configured via an app.

A Securmate sensor and controller starter kit sells for $114. The release is planned for April of 2017. The Kickstarter campaign for Securmate will begin next week on June 28. Update: The Securmate Kickstarter campaign is now live on kickstarter.com

The Securmate is not rocket science. It appears though well to be well throughout and the value lies in its simplicity.
