Rihanna pulls out of performing at the Lollapalooza Columbia out of concerns of contracting Zika virus while Festival dwindles.

Lollapalooza Columbia music festival was all set to go. With stars like Rihanna, Wiz Khalifa, Lana Del Ray and Disclosure, The Chainsmokers and dozens more.

The organizers have been trying to move the show to the South American side for quite some time ever since it started in Chicago a few years ago.

They finally succeeded in arranging the show in Columbia after Brazil and Argentina. The tickets were sold, the sponsors had contributed and the festival was set to happen on 17th and 18th September.

That is until Rihanna pulled out of the festival. The festival’s organizers did not name her directly. However the Columbian newspaper, La Tercera pointed out that it was indeed Rihanna who had pulled out of the show. Her reason is the Zika virus that is currently prevalent in that part of the world.

Columbia is the second country after Brazil to have the most reported cases of the disease which causes defective brain development in neonatal stages among infants, Guillain-Barré syndrome and neurological impairment in adults.

The organizers have called for the cancellation of the show. After Rihanna’s withdrawal, they were unable to find a musician or artist to fill her slot on such short notice causing the show to be called off altogether.

The organizers of the show have thanked their fans and the sponsors for supporting the show. They have promised refunds to all the people who bought tickets, according to US Weekly.

Rihanna is currently on her Anti World tour in Europe. She is scheduled to in Sweden on Monday before moving on to Denmark. The singer is also reported to be back in a relationship with rapper Drake as they were spotted earlier in London, partying.
