A court in Spain has just sentenced football star Lionel Messi to 21 months in prison for tax fraud. The sentence is though suspended and Lionel Messi will not end up behind bars.

He and his father have been found guilty of evading taxes of about 4 million Euros reports Football Espana. The suspension of Messi's prison time is because the sentence is under 2 years and he does not have any criminal record.

Messi argued that he did not know what his father had put in place with his advisers. The judge though said that he is the head and he can't have deniability.

Lionel Messi will have to pay about a 2 million Euro fine.

The world famous football player shocked his Argentina fans with the announcement to quit the national team. Fans have pleaded with him to came back staging rallies. So far he did not react. According to new reports, Argentina national team manager Gerardo Martino also retired.
