End to End encryption Being Tested Out In Facebook Messenger
Facebook

End to end encryption was automatically enabled for all WhatsApp users from April 2016 but in May we were told that a similar feature would be brought to Facebook messenger.

The testing has now reveled a similar service for messenger but in this case it is up to you as to whether you want to enable the end to end encryption or not. The whole thing is under testing at the moment with FB announcing that it will release the feature to a limited number of users who will then be able to send back their feedback. The encryption used for messenger uses the same Signal Protocol as WhatsApp.

To enable the feature you will have to begin a secret chat with the person you wish to talk to, so only the secret chat is encrypted. You also have the option of making your messages disappear within a secret chat after a specific time based on whatever timer you have set.

This means that your chat is extremely private with no one being able to intercept it, even Facebook.
