Melania Trump was supposed to be one of the bright spots at what is going to be an insanely tumultuous GOP convention. Unfortunately, things turned sour pretty quickly for the First Lady hopeful:

It seems like Melania "borrowed" a few lines from current First Lady Michelle Obama's 2008 DNC convention speech.

To hear the full speech, watch the video below. The controversial section starts at the 4:38 mark:

Now, before we go blaming the entire thing on a speechwriter, Melania told Matt Lauer in an interview that she didn't want much help. Still, it is unclear why she thought she would get away with it in today's internet age.

It took only a few minutes before someone realized it happened and put together a comparison - and then everyone was off to the races.

To add some humor to the situation, it looks like the speech actually Rickrolled in GOP convention:

The Trump campaign released this statement to CNN: “In writing her beautiful speech, Melania’s team of writers took notes on her life’s inspirations, and in some instances included fragments that reflected her own thinking. Melania’s immigrant experience and love for America shone through in her speech, which made it such a success.”
