It has been found that liquor apparently causes many types of cancer. The bottle is thus to be avoided at all costs by those with a tendency towards alcoholism.

The less you indulge in alcohol on a daily basis, the less chances you have of contracting such a deadly disease as cancer. The ultimate catch is that all types of alcoholic liquors are about equal in their ability to disrupt the human body’s homeostasis and cause tumors in the long run.

The alcohol itself is responsible for the damage that accumulates over time. Whether your poison is beer, wine or rum, it makes no difference at all over the long haul.

Furthermore, drinking and smoking are a particularly lethal combination. It is like adding fuel to the fire. However, let us make a few things clear in the beginning.

All this research is based on statistics and statistics is not an exact science. Not everyone who has his or her peg of whiskey in the evening will develop cancer in the end.

This is not the way Nature or human nature works. Everyone has his or her chances of susceptiblity and while many are prone to developing cancer, there are those hardy types that do not catch the disease despite their habit of imbibing alcohol on a regular basis.

Alcohol cause 4% of the cancers in the UK annually. That adds up to 12,800 people being given a virtual death sentence. The really surprising fact is that whether you drink a little over a long time or choose to binge time after time, it makes no difference on the rate of cancer.

Those who remain within the government-approved guidelines will probably avoid complications with the passing years yet it is still a risky proposal. Alcohol is plain poison for the body, especially the liver.

Among the cancers that could afflict the drinker of alcoholic beverages are: mouth, throat, esophagus, breast and bowel cancer.

  1. Mouth cancer
  2. Pharyngeal cancer (upper throat)
  3. Oesophageal cancer (food pipe)
  4. Laryngeal cancer (voice box)
  5. Breast cancer
  6. Bowel cancer
  7. Liver cancer

With each rising unit of alcoholic serving, the chances of contracting cancer increases. Also cancers of the pharynx and larynx are to be included in the mix.

Finally, liver cancer is also a contender. Alcohol is converted to acetaldehyde in the body and this damages the DNA strands thus disrupting cellular functions.

The changes to the genes spells disaster in the final analysis. Alcohol consumption also depletes folate levels in the body thus leading to increased chances of getting some forms of cancer.
