If you haven't had enough of the 80s and 90s revival, you're in luck. In celebration of Sonic the Hedgehog's 25th anniversary, Sonic dev just announced that they will be releasing a "passion project" that will make fans of all classic Sonic games happy.

The game, entitled Sonic Mania, grew out of the idea that Sonic fans truly love all of the classic renditions of Sonic in 2D. Check out the trailer below to see what all of the fuss is about:

This game is really reminiscent of the classics that we all used to play. While the game does pay tribute to the older classics that came before it, it will introduce new levels, new controls, new graphics, and new abilities.

The premise of the game is similar to past games. You'll be able to play as Sonic, Tails, or Knuckles in this game, much like with past games. This trailer looks like it will be far better than any of the other games, and it will be what Sonic fans have been waiting for - a truly great revival.

The game was developed by Christian Whitehead, Headcannon, and PagodaWest Games. It should be available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

Sonic Mania won't be released until Spring 2017, but it will hopefully be worth the wait.
