Watch Marvel’s Doctor Strange Comic Con Trailer
  • Second Trailer for Marvel’s Doctor Strange Creating Ripples across Comic Con

The second official trailer of Marvel’s Doctor Strange debuted at the Comic Con with a look at the characters and the story a little more closely.

There might be a reason that Benedict Cumberbatch attended this year’s Comic Con in San Diego. Apart from being really fun, he is the main character in two of the upcoming great events in the coming months. Sherlock on BBC and the more recent, Marvel’s Doctor Strange in November.

That’s right, Marvel is taking it’s first leap into mysticism and magic with this great star and Comic Con was definitely the place to drop the second official and longer trailer for the movie. The trailer has already given the fans much to talk about.

The trailer features Benedict Cumberbatch as the neurosurgeon Dr. Strange at the peak of his career. With great clothes, house, car and everything; he gets in a vehicular accident. We also hear a voice over in which the Ancient One played by Tilda Swinton tells him that he thinks he knows how the world works.

He is seen injured and supported by slings as Rachel McAdams playing a nurse in the movie sits and cries by his side. Meanwhile the Ancient One says that what if she told him that the reality he knows, Strange with a beard looks at a temple, is one of many. We see the Ancient One walking towards him while he is dragged back by unseen force into a prismatic glass and passes through it and the Ancient One follows.

He looks at the glass and we hear him say that this doesn’t make any sense. She replies that not everything has to. Not everything has to. In a voice over, the Ancient One tells him that through the mystic arts, we harness energy and shape reality. We travel great distances in an instant.

Meanwhile we see the Ancient One standing in a courtyard, a person in a yellow robe waving an arm around and the buildings yield to the movement in a kaleidoscopic formation and disappearing into a fiery circle and the Ancient One and the Doctor appearing on top of snowy mountains through a similar fiery circle.

The Doctor asks her that he gets from here to there, we see him among many other men practising some form of martial arts. The Ancient Ones asks him how he became a doctor followed by a scene where he opens a book with some ancient language. He replies, studying and practice. That seems to be the answer as we see him perform some of the mystical tricks with his hands.

We then see Chiwetel Ejiofor’s character saying that there is a strength to him while another questions his readiness. We see the Doctor standing in front of a glass case with the iconic cape. We see the Doctor wiping his face with a towel to reveal his iconic Doctor Strange beard. He then goes to open a window surrounded by sea.

The other man warns him to be careful of the path he travels down. Stronger men than him have lost their way and cue in Mads Mikkelsen as the villain with some truly grotesque eyes that look burnt. Mads character says he is death and pain while he performs another kaleidoscopic trick with reality. We see explosions and our warriors making their way through the destruction.

He then claims that the Doctor will die protecting this world. The Doctor also shows signs of doubt on his ability before Ejiofor’s character tells him that there is no other way. The fans then get to see some fights and visual effects of the mystical fights before we hear the Ancient One again. She says that she had spent so many years peering through time, looking for him.

We see him standing sideways on a building before the trailer cuts to the title. Just when we think that the trailer is over, we see Ejiofor’s character handing the Doctor a slip of paper with the word ‘Shamballa’ on it. He asks if it’s his mantra. Ejiofor’s looks sideways and tells him it’s the Wi-Fi password. They are not savages you know.

It’s cool and it looks great and the fans get to see Benedict Cumberbatch on the big screen again so the trailer is definitely a great way to elevate the excitement for the movie.

See Marvel's "Doctor Strange" in theaters on November 4, 2016.
